We Are Terra Corazón Family
Well, actually two families! Two families coming together to explore permaculture, regenerative land connection, and ways to reconnect to the ecologies, the soils, the waters, and the foods of this Southern California biome.
Located in Valley Center, California on native Luiseño Lands

OUR STORY
In 2014, after each family had been living in the city of San Diego, we decided to come together, combine our resources, and invest in our ecological futures. The land was an old abandoned avocado grove on 17 acres with 800 dead trees. The irrigation system was defunct! There were no homes to live in and no power for electricity.
...But we saw potential and began to grow the vision. Things started slowly. We camped on the land, we had parties, hosted classes, built composting toilets and an outdoor kitchen with a cob pizza oven.
In 2017, we hired friends and contractors Mike and Rebecca Tasker of Simple Construct to help us design, permit, and build 2 strawbale homes And finally during the pandemic of 2020 we moved onto the land.
The first gardens began in the fall of 2020
OUR HOMES
In thinking about building homes, we wanted something that would keep cool in the summer, stay warm in the winter be resistant to fire, have a small ecological footprint and would be legal to build. In the end, we decided that straw bale, homes would accomplish these goals. With great insulation, the homes require minimal heating a cooling The walls are plastered inside and out with local and non-toxic clay plasters.
